What does a philosophy degree at UCalgary involve?

As a Philosophy major, you'll complete the majority of your courses in discussion-based classes. You'll learn the skills of a professional philosopher, and focus on central issues and key philosophical figures. There are no fixed requirements for upper-level Philosophy courses. You can choose courses to suit your interests, but we encourage you to take a mix of courses from the various areas of philosophy, covering both historical and contemporary areas.

In your second year, most students will take an intense writing and reading course designed to prepare you for the upper level classes.
